Big Al's Smokehouse BBQ is a family-owned and operated authentic Dallas BBQ restaurant and caterer.  Big Al's provides our customers with award-winning, hickory smoked meats, house-made sides and desserts in an comfortable, family-friendly environment without breaking the bank. 

Our customers include local BBQ fans as well as countless visitors traveling through Love Field.  Our catering experts will make any event - from an important business meeting or corporate event of any size to your special celebration a smokin' success!

Our Family

Big Al, Al Plaskoff, opened Big Al's Smokehouse BBQ opened its doors 1.5 miles from the Love Field in late 1974.  He built a family business over the last 5 decades, with relatives running additional locations.   Big Al treated everyone like family, and ultimately his staff remains a part of the extended Plaskoff family.   Big Al's Smokehouse remains in the family with Al's daughter, Lauran Weiner and her loyal team (some of which have been there since the 70s & 80s) working side by side to keep Big Al's legacy alive.

Our Process

Low and slow is our mantra.   You can't rush good BBQ.   We use only Angus Beef Brisket (upper 2/3 Choice - we like a little fat cap on our meats).   Our Beef Ribs come from 44 Farms, and we are among the few to offer them every day.   Our fall of the bone Pork Ribs are the best in town!   We have created proprietary rubs for every meat we serve, and our BBQ Sauces are created to compliment them all.   We make ALL of our foods from SCRATCH each and every day.   From hand cut fries to bubbly peach cobbler, most of our recipes date back to Big Al's first years in business.

Our Team

Our team is an extension of Big Al's longtime and loyal family.   Our Pitmaster and lead blockman, Pedro Garcia began working for Big Al's in 1979 as a teen.   He continues to serve our guests, often knowing their orders before they have even been placed. Our talented GM, Jonathan McZeal came from an impressive restaurant and catering background.   If you've met Jonathan, you'll remember him.   The only thing bigger than this 6'6" beautiful bald man is his charm and creativity.   Our team is made up of several members of extended families - ensuring the quality and experience of our foods and services remain constant for 45+ years.

I was skeptical at first because it's hard to find a good bbq place. OMG! This place is legit!!! The Mac and cheese is fantastic. Probably the best I have ever had. I believe the managers name is John? Highly recommend!

First of all, meat was well seasoned. Sides were on par as well, if you want it spicy or not it can go either way and make you happy! -Drew K
